Ability Squad

When I started at the club. I had an Ability Squad coach. He was funny and had lots of children running, jumping and throwing all sorts of different ways. This is where I found out that I can run fast, my friend found out that he can throw beanbags very high.

My ability coach has a few Mums & Dads helping him.

Helpers & Volunteers

Now that I am older, I help out with the Ability Squad coach.
We help all sorts of people, big people, little people, some in electric wheelchairs.
I have no favorites, I like everyone.

Most of our helpers have got a level 1 assistant coaching badge from UK-Athletics.

Session Plan

At our Ability sessions we learn four basic things.
Starting (‘marks - set - go’ ‘jump or throw when you are ready’)
•Stopping (‘finish line’ ‘baton hand over’)
•Track (‘one way’ ‘look right’ ‘keep in lane’)
•Field (‘no messing about’ ‘one thrower or jumper at a time’)

Some of my friends can’t see where to start & stop.
We all warm up first, but every Ability session has a Start; Stop; Track and Field activity.
