Guide to Best Practice
BuiltWithNOF

Hi. I’m Jenny - My Dad has asked me to help put together a Disability Athletics best practice guide for Athletic Clubs in the North West.

I have a disability, and lots of disabled friends, so I guess its my turn to help the clubs that have helped me

Getting Started
If anyone wants to be an athlete then I suppose that the first thing to do is join a club.
it’s the same for disabled people who want to be athletes, they need somewhere to go

I know that its hard to cater for the special needs that disabled people have. But I think the first thing for a club to provide is a friendly face.

Coaching

My coach is great, he makes me laugh.
He talks to me, makes me feel important.
He watches me run and shows me how to go faster

John has lots of athletes, but always talks to everyone in the same way. We are all at different levels, so he gives me a start. Sometimes he forgets on purpose, this makes me laugh.
